Introduction to Whaling
Whaling is a practice of hunting and killing whales for multiple purposes and has been going on since thousands of years ago, though the 1st recorded large scale whaling was recorded to be in the ninth century. However, throughout the centuries whaling had become increasingly popular especially in countries such as Japan, Norway and Iceland. Because of this, whale numbers nowadays have reached a critically low number from over whaling even though actions are being taken and bans are being placed. The sheer size and weight does not protect the whales and 7 out of the 13 whale species are either endangered or vulnerable even after many years of protection.
This video taken from Animal Planet shows video footage of whaling and what happens on board a whaling vessel.
